Piracy is a serious offense, and those caught engaging in it can face severe consequences. In India, piracy is punishable under the Copyright Act, 1957, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Those convicted of piracy can face fines of up to ₹10 lakh (approximately $14,000 USD) and imprisonment for up to 3 years.
