In a not-too-distant future, robot boxing has become a popular sport. Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) is a former boxer who lost everything after his wife's death. He buys a robot, Ambush, which turns out to be a weak and uncompetitive model. When Charlie's estranged son Max (Atticus Shaffer) and his friend Hugo (River White) convince him to let them reprogram and refurbish the robot into a more powerful fighting machine called Noisy Boy, they enter it into a robot boxing tournament.
