An investigation was launched immediately, with local authorities and the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (ASBI) working together to locate Kortney. Her vehicle, a white 2006 Nissan Murano, was found abandoned on Interstate 85 in Montgomery County. A search of the area yielded no signs of Kortney or any indication of foul play.
