The movie follows Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), a cocky test pilot who becomes a member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force. Hal is chosen by a dying Abin Sur (Simon Callow), an alien who crash-lands on Earth. Abin gives Hal a power ring that allows him to create energy constructs and fly. Hal soon learns that he has to stop Parallax (Peter Sarsgaard), a powerful villain who threatens the universe.
